Our Team

Lessa is thrilled and honored to be helping shape a new direction for Fusion, both in increasing access to education in various dance forms and how they come together, and also in branching out in some new and different directions in how Fusion events are created and how they serve the community. She’s simultaneously excited and terrified to be generating new ideas with her team for how we can serve each other, and also assimilating ideas from our brilliant and thoughtful community, who always raise important questions and provide excellent constructive feedback. She wants to thank everyone for contributing to the co-creation of this new, incredible direction we’re taking together. Lessa really does firmly believe that Fusion dance is only as strong as the dances which are brought to the dancefloor to be fused. Yes, Fusion is generating some of its own style, but she supports the dance continuing to relate to and be informed by the dances that the various constituencies bring to it. She highly values the many voices that contribute to shaping Fusion dance. It's her concerted and passionate goal to keep as many of those voices as possible involved in actively shaping Fusion dance as an art form. She is effusively thrilled to be part of such a passionate community in Seattle, and hopes that the offering this team is assembling is worthy of the amazing dancers she hopes will be just as excited to attend.

Tenae started dancing blues in Seattle in 2010, and soon made her home in fusion and micro fusion, while dabbling in West Coast swing, waltz, and tango throughout her explorations. Tenae is excited to be putting her efforts into a project that seeks to present a new standard for events in terms of integrity, transparency, and pure awesomeness. She is looking forward to this event becoming a space to foster new organizing talent and passion, as well as creating a space for dancers and participants of all types to grow and pursue excellence.

Thena’s training is mostly grounded in Argentine tango, blues, and balboa, but they have dabbled in a wide array of partner dances and enjoy blending each into their fusion dancing. In addition to working on the High-Fidelity team, they direct Blues Underground, which encompasses Seattle’s monthly blues event and its related programs. Both in and out of dance, Thena works diligently on anti-oppression and allyship. They are thrilled to be working on a team that centers those values.

In music, Zach likes to hear atypical or layered rhythms, odd thematic elements, and particularly wicked covers. He dances fusion, borrowing elements from micro, polka, salsa, swing, tango, two step, and waltz (often with a heavy dose of silliness). To him, this event is not just about having a fabulous time; it is also a personal investment in fostering the kind of community he wants dance to be.

Justin began his dance journey with Contra at a Masonic lodge in Amherst, MA in 2011. He gleefully spun in circles for a few years before moving home to NYC, where he fell in love with both blues and fusion. After spending about three years there, he moved out to Seattle in 2017 and started to truly immerse himself in dance. In the last year, Justin has become a host at Om Fusion (Seattle's weekly fusion dance), DJ'd events on two different continents, and gained a deep appreciation for the community and creativity present in the fusion scene. When he's not dancing, he enjoys talking to computers, harmonizing with household appliances and doing cool (and weird) stuff with audio.

Meeeet Megan! Megan has been dancing fusion for about 5 years. She has a blues and swing dancing background, and studied ballet before she turned 10. Megan has an affinity for partner dancing and connecting with people through the language of dance. She has come to know herself and build her confidence through her solo dancing. Besides dancing/humans, the loves of her life also consist of 3 small furry critters named Auri, London, and Bubbles. Suffice to say, if you bring Megan any picture of a cat (or an offering of blueberries… especially blueberries) she’ll jump up and down with glee. As a highly empathetic, intuitive person, she believes her team is working to bring a vision of hope for the community to life. Megan immediately jumped on board when the topic of creating a new fusion scene centered around transparency and safety came to the table. She believes the members of her team are dedicated to this vision, and shares this hope for the community.
